Leora Vilate Toyn was born on September 23, 1934 in Tremonton, Box Elder County, Utah. She was the third child and first daughter of Alfred Charles and Josephine Rhea Newton Toyn.
Although her time on earth was short, she brought great joy to her parents. She was a healthy, happy child until a few hours before her death. One afternoon she climbed upon her mother’s lap, cuddled again her and said, “Mommy, I’m sick!” Her fever was very high and she was taken to see the doctor. His diagnosis was “Spinal Meningitis.” There were no antibiotics available at that time and she died after a short illness on February 6, 1937, in Tremonton, Box Elder County, Utah.
She was buried at the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton.
