Donald LaVarr Tanner

Donald LaVarr Tanner was born May 14, 1945, in Brigham City, Utah, the son of Herbert A. and Vera May Kimber Tanner.

His brothers and sisters are: brothers, Marjorie, Herbert Floyd, Audrey, Shirley, Norma, Eilene, Darrell K., Merle, Allen Gary and Barbara.

He was raised and educated in Grouse Creek, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City. Don attended Weber State College and worked at D.D.O. in Ogden before making his home in Tremonton. He was serving as Vice President of the Grouse Creek Livestock Association and worked for the Bear River Canal Company. He enjoyed visiting with friends from the ditch bank to the coffee shop and everywhere in between.

He married Judy Larsen January 20, 1967, in the Logan LDS Temple. She died October 13, 1972. He married Barbara LaDawn “Bobbie” Rhodes on July 23, 1976, in Elko, Nevada. They were sealed together, along with their family, for time and eternity on December 7, 1984, in the Logan LDS Temple.

His children are: Brad, Amy, Kipp, Clayton, Becki, and Andrew.
Don was a member of the Tremonton 3rd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he had served in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency, the Bishopric, Sunday School, Young Mens church ball coach and girl’s fastpitch coach.

Donald LaVarr Tanner, 55, died Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at his home, from cancer and he is buried at the Grouse Creek Cemetery.
