Sarah Joy was born on July 15, 1798 at Diss, Norfolk, England, a daughter of James and Sarah Masterson.
She was the mother of Mary Joy Cooke, wife of Benjamin F. Cooke.
She obeyed the gospel in the Portsmouth Branch of the Southern Conference, England; emigrated therefrom in April 1881, with her daughter and son-in-law, B. F. and Mary J, Cooke, with who she lived up to the time of her death.
They made their home in Grouse Creek, Utah.
She died as she had lived, a faithful Latter-Day Saint with a full assurance of a glorious resurrection and exaltation. She was held in high esteem and loved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.
She passed away on April 13, 1881 in Grouse Creek of natural causes and is buried in the Grouse Creek Cemetery.
On Friday the 13th day of May, 1881 at 8 minutes past 11:00 am at the residence of Benjamin F. Cooke, Grouse Creek, Box Elder County, Utah Territory. Sarah Joy, the mother of Mary Joy, wife of Benjamin F, Cooke died. Sarah was almost 83 years old.
She is buried in the Grouse Creek Cemetery.
